Marketing Ideas for Electrical Contractors
Going through training for, working for experience in, and gaining licensure as an electrical contractor takes time, effort and hard work. Regrettably, all of that work is for naught if an electrical contractor cannot earn a good reputation and find work. A good marketing strategy helps out a lot.
- Print advertising. The most basic form of advertising is print advertising, which is still known as a quality option. Ads in the classified and home & garden section are category appropriate and have the most impact for electrical service.
- Radio advertising. Both radio ads and sponsorships through the radio are other ways to advertise availability as an electrical contractor. Sponsoring a daily energy tip or energy fact of the day might be an interesting addition to morning radio. Alternately, sponsoring the weather report, although not necessarily related to electric, is important to radio listeners.
- Sports team sponsorships. Sports teams, such as little league football and softball, need sponsors to help with the cost of uniforms and equipment. Although the initial monetary output might be a little pricey, getting your name on that many uniforms for multiple games is a great way to make it a household name. If the team does well, the sponsor gets even more exposure through championship games.
- Chamber of Commerce membership. Sometimes people decide to go through the Chamber of Commerce listing to find local vendors, suppliers and contractors to do business with. Also, if a county sends out welcome packages to people interested in moving to the area, the Chamber of Commerce membership list is often included. This is a great tool if people moving to the area are looking to build. That way, the name is already available to the prospective home owners/builders.
