Mobile Home Skirting Ideas

Skirting a mobile home can give it extra curb appeal.  There are several different kinds of skirting.  Skirting covers the bottom of the mobile home so that the frame of the mobile home cannot be seen. Vinyl, wood, brick and stone are a few kinds of skirting.

Vinyl Skirting

Vinyl skirting is the most common on a mobile home.  They are interlocking panels.  There are many colors to choose from.  The panels are included in the price of your mobile home at the time of purchase.  When your mobile home is set up commercial installers will install the vinyl skirting.

Wood

Wooden lattice panels can be used for mobile home skirting.  Masonite skirting can also be used.  Masonite is made with pressed wood and painted.  The wooden panels are not permanent and will have to be replaced frequently.  Wooden skirting cost less than the stone or hardscape skirting.

Hardscape

There are a few different kinds of hardscape.  They are stone and brick.  Brick skirting is for a more permanent look.  Stone or rock can be laid to create a similar look.  For example, grey stone can be used on a mobile home that has dark grey, green or red trim.  Be sure the hardscape is ventilated along the sides or the end of the mobile home.

Other Considerations

Will your home be moved in the future?  If the home will not be moved, pour concrete footers around the base of the mobile home to attach the skirting.  The skirting prevents wildlife and outdoor pets from getting into the flooring and insulation
