Most Common Car Injury Complaints
Getting into an auto accident can be painful in more ways than one. Not only does a person have to deal with handling their accident claim with the insurance company, but those who get into car accidents often suffer physical harm as well. Some of the most common injuries suffered in car accidents can be severe. Accident victims should seek medical attention to be safe.
Arm and Leg Pain
Limbs are often injured in auto accidents. Upon impact, a knee may slam into the dashboard causing a fracture. Some may pull a shoulder out of place when trying to keep the car under control. The pain may just be a bone bruise, but x-rays should be performed in order to make sure no bones are broken. Bone breaks often require surgery.
Loss of Memory, Headaches or Nausea
If someone strikes their head during the accident, a few different symptoms may occur. The victim may feel sick or dizzy, experience severe headaches and even memory lapses. Head trauma can be very serious and medical attention should be sought right away. Concussions are among head injuries that can be fatal. If someone is feeling tired after hitting their head, they should not go to sleep.
Back Pain or Discomfort
Whiplash is one of the most common injuries suffered in car accidents. This injury results from very fast and violent movements while the accident is happening. Whiplash is common, but more severe back or neck injuries can occur. Anyone experiencing neck or back pain should limit movement and seek medical attention.
Abdominal or Side Pain
Fractured ribs can occur during auto accidents if someone in the vehicle does not restrain themselves with a seatbelt. Fractured ribs can cause numerous internal injuries, most of them severe. Victims of abdominal injuries normally hit at higher impacts.
