Most Important Factors to Consider When Printing Receipts

Millions of receipts are generated all over the country every single day. Each receipt contains important information about the product(s) purchased, how they were paid for and what company they were bought from. Receipts are very important pieces of information and should be formatted correctly.

How to Generate a Receipt

Company Name/Logo The companies name and logo should be located at the top of the receipt. Typically this information is centered.

Header Below the company name and logo is the header. The header contains your store number, address, phone number, fax number, date and transaction number.

Receipt Body The body of the receipt contains all information on items purchased. It can contain the item identification number, quantity of items purchased, description and the cost of the item. The body of the receipt will also include the tax paid and the total amount due.

Payment The payment section will include the method of payment and how much was paid. It may show the last 4 digits of a credit or debit card as well.

Footer At the bottom of the page is the footer. The footer can contain a bar code and may include an associate's name or ID number. Typically the footer also contains a "Thank You" message or any information about upcoming specials promotions or sales.
