Multimedia PC Components
Your computer will need to be upgraded with high quality multimedia parts if you plan on playing a lot of games and video. Upgrading your computer can be expensive, but worth the money if you spend a lot of time using it.
Video Cards - Having a high quality video card will obviously be important if you plan on using your computer for multimedia purposes. Each computer will have a slot designated for video cards. Most people should be capable of upgrading video cards in desktop computers. Laptops will be tougher to upgrade yourself because the components are smaller.
Graphics Card- The motherboard will have an expansion port to install graphics cards. 256 megabytes (MB) of memory should be the minimum amount you buy. Shop for cards that have ActiveX technology. Graphics cards should also be easy to upgrade on desktops.
Sound Card- Upgrade your sound card if there are enough expansion ports available on your computer. Upgrading the sound card will help increase the total gaming experience.
Memory- There is a limit on every computer to how much the memory can be upgraded. You can easily find how much memory your computer is capable of handling by looking in the owners manual or doing a basic search. Most experts say a minimum of four gigabytes is needed for high performance multimedia computers.
Shop around for these upgrades. Different websites and stores will have varying prices. Be careful if you're buying used parts. Only buy name brand products from reputable dealers.
