Negative Things About Home Schooling
Home schooling is a wonderful way to give your child the education that you think he deserves. Not only this, but you can filter out the things that you don't want your child to learn about as well as those things that are not necessary to their education. There are many positive perks of home schooling a child, however there are many negative things about home schooling as well.
- Social Interactions- When your child is being home schooled their social interactions are limited with other children their age. This can cause social awkwardness as well as many other problems such as not knowing how to react in social situations as well as learning to share.
- Lack of Proper Tools- Unless you can find an institution that will donate the materials for you to home school your child, then it is likely that you will not have the proper tools to do so unless you purchase them yourself. The Board of Education nor your state government gives these materials to people that choose home schooling over the governmental approved alternative, public school.
- Insufficient Knowledge- Your child may excel in one area over another. This could be an area that you are unfamiliar with. When this happens, there is a cap being put on your child's education because you cannot help them to get any further than what they have learned because you don't know it either. When this happens, you can opt to allow your child to selectively take courses in the public school system so they can advance their education in one area that you cannot help them any longer.
- Time Requirements- When you are home schooling a child, you are at home with them all the time. This means that you are responsible for their education as well as your regular household duties. By law there is a requirement of how long your child must be in school for each calendar year. When you are home schooling and the dishes start to pile up, sometimes, the dishes become more important.
- Slacking Off- It is more likely that a child will want to slack off when they are being home schooled. This is because they know that they don't have to get out of bed at a particular time to get ready and leave the house. They know where all their toys are and which buttons to push to get them to allow you to play. When they are away from home, they don't have that opportunity.
