Old Mobile Home Decorating Ideas

Updating the interior of an old mobile home does not have to be difficult. However, old mobile homes often have a smaller area to work with. This will require the use of creativity to decorate the home to your design. Fortunately, there are some strategies you can use to get the most out of your decorating experience.   

Walls

Usually, the walls in an old mobile home will be paneling. Unfortunately, this paneling will start to age very quickly. As it ages, it will become dull and dingy in appearance. To give new life to your walls, you will need to apply a fresh coat of paint. Luckily, painting a paneled wall is no different than painting a regular wall. For small rooms, select a bright color to make the space more vibrant. However, in larger spaces, you should use a subdued color to prevent the color from overpowering the room.

Flooring

Most old mobile home will have low quality carpet or other flooring materials in them. It is impossible to update the look of a mobile home without changing the flooring. At a minimum, new carpet should be installed. Select a neutral colored carpet to hide dirt and stains. Also, a neutral color will make it easier to coordinate your overall color scheme.

Furniture

New furniture should be purchased to complete the look. This furniture should be color coordinated to provide a harmonic setting for the room. Furniture that clashes with the rest of the design elements can quickly make the room look worse than it did before the decorating. However, if you follow the basics of color matching, then your old mobile home will have a fresh and appealing new look to it.
