PVC Patio Furniture Cushions

A great looking patio with furniture and perhaps a great grill just makes you wish for the weekend. Unless your patio is covered, you should have some protection for all your patio furniture and the other items you have out, or they won’t be looking good for long. They make covers for almost everything but what about the furniture?

  • With today’s modern outdoor patio furniture it is both easy and quick to clean them up should you encounter a problem with mold or mildew and even just plain dirty.

  • The newer fabrics include acrylic-based fabrics; PVC coated polyester or vinyl and or olefin. Should mold, mildew or dirt from nearby construction or whatever get on your furniture it will be a snap to get it back off.

  • The newer coated fabrics do not actually get mold on them. The mold and mildew will come from dead skin cells, pollen and dirt that are in or on the fabric. These are easily cleaned off with regular cleaning materials.

  • Where you may run into problems could be the cushions within the fabrics. These could be made of just about anything depending on the age of the cushion. However most today are made of water resistant materials and all you will have to do is dry them out. Should you have some that are made of foam or rubber you may want to change them out for newer and more resistant materials such as a layered poly fiber fill or shredded or blown fiber.

  • In most situations you should be able to mix some liquid soap with warm water for these fabrics and wipe them down well. Rinse the solution off and let them air dry and you will have nice clean cushions.
