Preschool Art and Craft Ideas
Young children need to develop motor skills early, so assisting with arts and crafts for kids as young as three is beneficial. If you are a preschool teacher or a parent to a young child, you can make these easy to do crafts.
Hand Palm Tree
This type of craft will allow a child’s imagination to run loose. Making a hand palm tree is a simple art that allows the child to use their hands. Have some finger paint at the ready and tell them to dip their hand into it. They will then need to create the print of their hand on the paper, which will be the base of the tree. The palm is the trunk and the fingers will be the branches. You can bring in pine needles for the children to glue onto the trunks and also use real bark for the trunk of the tree.
Finger Puppets
This is another simple craft that will only need a few items to make. Have some glue, craft foam, felt, scissors, and paint to get started. They again can use their minds to make whatever kind of finger puppet they want and form the craft foam into a human or animal shape. The paint can be used on the felt, which will cover the foam and keep it from falling apart. Give them step-by-step instructions on how to make their finger puppet and cut out the small opening on the bottom for them.
Using Glitter Paint
To make an artistic masterpiece, many children will love the wonderment of glitter paint. Most glitter paints come in an easy to use squeeze bottle, perfect for little hands. Get some large colored construction paper and let them create whatever they would like with the glitter paint. This type of art project should be used more than once since it gives them a lot of freedom.
