Preventive Maintenance Checklist for Mack Trucks

Mack trucks are the most popular brands of diesel trucks. If you own one of these trucks, you are going to want it to be in great condition. You should do the proper preventive maintenance whenever it is needed to keep your truck in outstanding condition.

Lubrication: Keep your Mack working the way that it is supposed to. Have the oil changed when you are supposed to. You will probably have to change the oil and filter about every 15,000 miles that you drive. You should also lubricate the chasses, drive shaft, suspension and everywhere else that have a grease fitting. Doing this will help extend the life of the suspension components.

Bolts: It is extremely important for you to tighten and torque the bolts in the suspension and chassis of your truck after you drive the first 5,000 miles. You want to make sure that they are properly tightened. After doing this, check them out periodically to make sure that nothing from the components of the suspension has worn out, broken, rusted, or that anything is missing.

Checks of the Braking System: Check on the braking system periodically. Look at the drums, hydraulic hoses, brake linings, rotors and vacuum hoses to make sure that none of them are leaking fluids or have been damaged. If your brakes fail in your Mack truck, someone will more than likely be injured or killed in an accident. Check your brake system before you transport any type of load. Inspect them every month that you use the truck.
