Procedures on Auto Delivery
Auto delivery procedures can vary based on the type of car you’re purchasing and where you’re purchasing it. If you’re shipping a car you’ll have to deal with specific procedures as well. There is always paperwork involved and some steps you must follow to take delivery of a car.
When dealing with auto delivery you will find that it can be a long and drawn out process. Transporting between states can be difficult, but going overseas is another story entirely. As long as you follow the right guidelines and do the necessary paperwork you will have no troubles with your delivery and the travel time.
Preparing
You will need to properly prepare your vehicle for its delivery. This means deactivating any alarms on your vehicle and not filling it up completely with gas. Every carrier has weight limits, and if too much gas is in your car it can cause problems. Be sure that all parts are secured as well as all specialty items to prevent any damage from happening. You also need to check the antifreeze before shipping your vehicle off.
Inspections
The vehicle will have to go through several different inspections before it will be put onto the carrier. The Bill of Lading requires that the car go through and pass the inspection before being loaded. After your car has been successfully delivered it will have to go through another series of inspections. If there have been any damages or changes then you have only two weeks to let it be known.
Delivery and Timing
You will not be able to know when exactly the transport will take because of the inspections and policies. They can usually give you an estimation that they can meet most of the time. Certain services will provide you with door to door moves as long as your city allows large trucks in your area.
