Process to Clean Stains From Car Headliners

When detailing the interior of your vehicle, your car's headliner, or the roof of your car, is often neglected. It is not an area that is looked at when getting in and out of you vehicle but when you do look you may be surprised to see marks and stains that do not belong there. These stains can be removed with the proper cleaning techniques.

1) Before you proceed with cleaning your headliner, you will want to inspect it for tears and other signs of wear. If there is damage present, then you may want to hold off on cleaning it to prevent any further deterioration.

2) Gently brush away any debris you may see with your hand. Do not apply too much pressure. There is foam under the material and it can be dented if not treated carefully.

3) On a towel, spray a small amount of upholstery cleaner and wipe back in forth using small motions on the stained areas. Upholstery cleaner can be found at any auto parts store. Be careful to avoid using a circular motion as that may damage the underlying foam. With a clean and dry towel, wipe off any excess dirt or cleanser.

4) Repeat the above process using a degreaser. Degreaser can be found at any auto parts store. This will help to remove any stains that may have been caused by hair oils if your head brushes against the headliner when entering and exiting the car.

In order to maintain the clean appearance of the headliner, make sure you make this process a regular part of your car's detailing and cleaning routine.
