Products Used to Clean Ceramic Tile Floors

If you have ceramic tile in your home, you want to care for it properly and maintain it so that it stays looking new for years to come. There are many commercial cleaners on the market available to clean your ceramic tile, as well as natural remedies that work just as well for pennies on the dollar compared to the price of commercial cleaners.

Ceramic Tiles

  • Commercial Cleaners - There are many commercial cleaning choices on the market for ceramic floor cleaning. Most all-purpose cleaners such as Lysol and Mr. clean are fine to use on ceramic floor tile. You can also choose a product that is specifically designed for ceramic floors from your local home improvement store. Sponge mops and steam cleaners are also excellent at cleaning ceramic tile floors.

  • Natural Cleaners - Ceramic floor tiles are very low maintenance, and there are many natural cleaners that will clean your ceramic tile and leave it shiny and clean. Vinegar is a great natural all-purpose cleaner that can be used on ceramic tiles. Simply fill a spray bottle with half water and half vinegar. Spay down the ceramic tiles, and then wipe clean with a sponge or clean, dry towel.

Grout

The hardest part of caring for your ceramic floors is the grout that is in between the tiles. This grout is usually white, and can become stained easily. Stained and dirty grout can leave your floor looking dirty even when it’s clean.

  • Natural Cleaner - A great natural way to keep your grout looking clean and bight is all-natural baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda onto the grout and then spray down with undiluted vinegar. Allow the mixture to sit on the grout for about 20 minutes, and then scrub away the dirt and stains with a toothbrush. Rinse clean with water and dry with a lint-free towel.

  • Commercial Cleaners - If you wish to use commercial cleaners for your grout cleaning needs, the best product to use is comet or bleach, depending on the amount of dirt and stains that have built up in your grout. Simply apply the cleaner, allow it to sit for five minutes, and then rinse clean with warm water.
