Proper Way to Wear the Boy Scout Uniform
Being a Boy Scouts is a great activity for boys of all ages, and provides them with the tools they will need to grow to be a responsible and dependable adult. Boy Scouts are identified by a common uniform that varies slightly depending on the age of the boy. Wearing the uniform correctly will show that you take pride in the Boy Scouts of America.
- Determine the correct uniform for the age of the boy enrolled in Boy Scouts. The packs are broken down into categories by age, and the uniform requirements will vary depending on the pack that the boy is in. Check with the scout leader to determine the appropriate Boy Scout uniform.
- Choose the shoes that you prefer to go with the uniform. The shoes are not mandated by the organization, so you are free to choose the shoes that you feel look best. It is recommended, however, that the shoes that are worn with a Boy Scout uniform are kept neat and clean.
- Wear the sash that displays the badges that have been earned to all formal Boy Scout meetings. The sash should be placed over the right shoulder and hung down over the left side of the waist of the Boy Scout. Only attach badges that are supplied to you by the troop leader due to accomplishments within the pack.
- Choose a Boy Scout T-shirt or long-sleeved shirt that represents the level of the pack that the boy is a member of. These shirts should be worn for informal meetings or activities along with a pair of Boy Scout issued pants or shorts. Some pack leaders will allow the boys to wear regular jeans or shorts with these shirts. You can also purchase a matching hat to wear for Boy Scout outings and activities.
