Security Jobs at Airports

Airport security jobs are classified as Transportation Security Administration. The TSA is a federal agency of the Department of Homeland Security. The TSA employs security officers, inspectors, managers, directors, air marshals and other employees who have the job of protecting the airports and the passengers from terrorists while they are traveling.


  • The TSA Security officer is responsible for the screening scans of the luggage that the passengers bring to the airport, the searching of the passenger's luggage when it is required, the patrolling of the security area in the airport, the body checks of the passengers when it is required and assisting the passengers with security issues.

  • The TSA Inspectors inspects, assesses and investigates the passengers and the airplanes to determine their security posture. The inspectors provide guidance to the airport on the development and modification of the security plans to ensure compliance with requirements.

  • The Air Marshals are federal law enforcement officers that blend in with the passengers to detect, deter and defeat the terrorist and other criminals that are trying to target the airplanes, airports, passengers and the air crews.

  • National Explosive Detection Canine Team have trainers that prepares the dogs and their handlers to serve as mobile teams that can find dangerous materials in passenger's baggage, on the person and in the airport.

  • The Federal Security Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations at the airports. The FSD has the authority of planning, and execution of their duties for the Under Secretary of Transportation for Security.
