Service Dog Training Requirements

Service Dog Training Programs

Special programs use service dogs as guides for the handicap and others with disabilities. Trainers work with these dogs in obstacle courses, emergency situations and many other areas. These loving animals work hard and diligently to protect and guide those in their care.

Circle Tail

Circle Tail's Inmate/Canine Educational Program trains dogs to help those in need. People with hearing problems, vision loss and many more disabilities rely on service dogs for help. Circle Tail specializes in training Labrador retrievers, German Sheppard and several other breeds that make great guides. However, any dog is acceptable as long as it has a good temperament and ability to work well with children and adults.

The program fee is currently free to individuals but the program requires a yearly membership fee of $60. The person in need must also be able to provide exercise, care and food once they receive a service dog.

Canine Companions for Independence
