Small Bathroom Interior Design

Designing a small bathroom requires utilizing very limited space. What you use is just as important as how you use it. The best approach to designing small spaces is to use designs that give illusions of a larger size. Fortunately, there are a number of interior design methods that can do just that.

Lighting

Light is the biggest ways to make small spaces seem larger. It can be expensive to add more windows to your bathroom, but there are ways to add more light without large expense. Skylights make additions to small interiors, and they come in numerous designs and sizes that can save you money in the long run by lowering the utility bill. Skylights also provide more lighting than windows.

Light-Colored Wall Paint

Dark colors can and will make small rooms appear even smaller. Add space by painting walls a light color, such as white, beige or off-white. Painting the ceiling is a good idea as well. Use a high-gloss paint that will reflect the light already coming in the bathroom.

Clear Shower Door

You can replace your shower curtains with a clear shower door. Although shower curtains are beautiful accessories, they can trap light behind them. Clear shower doors not only make the bathroom seem larger, they are easy to clean and maintain. If money is an issue, try using a clear shower curtain with very limited dark designs.

Smaller Sinks

Most bathrooms have standard size sinks. You can replace this with a wall-mounted or pedestal sink. These two changes are excellent for increasing space around tub and toilet areas.  Suspended vanities also work well, come in stylish designs and fit small interiors nicely.
