Storage Solutions for Narrow Spaces
Narrow spaces can be extremely difficult to organize and decorate. Having a narrow space can be challenging, and putting shelves in a narrow space makes the space look more crowded. With a little ingenuity and work, you can turn a narrow space into a masterpiece.
Multipurpose Items
- Incorporating storage into objects and furniture can help with narrow spaces, such as office desks, benches or ottomans with built in storage. These items have dual purposes and help to save space. A captain’s bed with pullout drawers can serve as a purpose of storing clothing and pillows and blankets. A secretary desk can help with storage in your dining room and can be folded out for more table space, or folded in to save space. Ottomans are perfect storage helpers. Ottomans take up little space, but can store toys, candles and other items to help with narrow spaces.
Hanging Items
- Narrow spaces are difficult to create storage of any kind, but hooks and racks could be the answer. If the bedroom closet needs storage, install some hooks at different levels to hang belts, purses and more. If the washer and dryer closet is the problem, racks and hooks can be installed for brooms, sponges, mops and cleaning supplies. If your garage or basement is narrow and storage space is in dire need, adding hooks and racks will also solve the problem. Bike racks can also be used for getting bikes off the floor and onto the wall. In the kitchen, pot and pan racks can save lots of room for storage.
