Study Room Design Ideas

People use a study room to complete homework, read a book, or simply enjoy an oasis away from the noise. Keep this room quiet and cozy. To ensure a successful study, you should use a combination of several study room design ideas.

Use a Warm Color Scheme

A warm color scheme will help create the mood of relaxation and comfort. Stick to warm hues, like purple, dark blues and greens. These colors have a way of adding to the tranquility and peacefulness of a room. Vibrant color choices like red, orange and yellow evoke energy, which deters from the purpose of the study room. Creamy earth tones will also work well as a neutral color in the room.

Choose Functional and Comfortable Furniture

Functional furniture enables you to have efficient study sessions within the room. Invest in a large desk that has enough room to spread out your study materials. Use photo boxes, pencil holders and other accessories to organize the desk and make it more functional. Purchase a comfortable, ergonomic chair to sit in while at the desk.

Aside from the desk area, create a sitting area with an oversized chair. Use this chair to sit in and enjoy reading or relaxation. Set a side table and lamp next to the chair for added functionality. Sit a coaster on the table to protect it when enjoying a beverage while reading.

Purchase a bookcase and use it to shelve the many books you may read or use during your time in the study. If you have many books, invest in a large bookshelf and make it a centerpiece in the room.
