Supplies a Tailor Shop Needs
A tailor shop needs to be at the ready for customers who need to alter their clothes. The supplies needed for a tailor are not far too many, but each one is very important to the business since there will be a lot of cutting, sewing, and hemming.
Designing Tools
Designing tools to cut and reshape clothing are mandatory in a tailor shop. At least a few dress forms, small and large should be placed in the shop to make measuring a cinch. Graphing rulers are tools that make it simple to realign fabrics. Rotary mats and French curves should also be stored for projects that need special attention.
Sewing Supplies
The most needed sewing supplies are a seam ripper, button gauge, scissors, sewing machine, and thimbles. It is recommended to use a sewing machine rather than the old fashioned way since it takes up less time and has the utmost precision. Tape measurers are also a handy tool to have for dresses and longer pieces that work with a simple ruler.
Markers, Notchers, and Linings
To mark where you are going to begin cutting and altering, tailor shop needs tracing wheels, tailor chalk, a marker pen and a chalk hem marker. Lining is what’s used to put inside of the clothing after taking out excess fabric. Coat, jacket, sheath, and flake lining are the most needed tailor linings that can work with most fabrics. Other fabric types of chiffon, lace, and velvet can be bought and used to replace sections of the garment.
