The Best Places to Advertise Your RV for Sale

Selling an RV is different than selling any other type of vehicle.  RVs have a very limited market, so it’s very important to advertise yours to the right demographic.  Depending on your budget and time frame for the sale, you can advertise your RV yourself or hire a professional to do it for you.

Used RV Dealerships

One of the easiest ways to sell your RV is to ask someone else to do it for you.  You don’t necessarily need to sell your RV to a dealership before they can resell it to the public.  Instead, you can find a dealer or a broker who will sell your RV for a fee or a percentage of the sale price.  You can also take your RV to a consignment lot.  Professional salesmen will do all the advertising for you, and display your RV in a big lot where hundreds of potential customers can see it.

Signs

Place “for sale” signs on your RV, so people can see them while you are driving or when the vehicle is parked.  Make them large and clear, so people can read them easily from far away.  Include a phone number where you can be reached if someone is interested.  If the price is low, then you might want to include it on the sign to entice buyers.  Otherwise, wait until they contact you to talk about the price and other details.

Newspapers

Advertise your RV in local newspapers.  If your budget allows it, take out a larger space where you can post a picture.  Include information such as the model, manufacturer and the year of your RV.  Give people the option to contact you by phone or email.

The Internet

There are hundreds of websites where you can list your RV for sale.  You can even find websites that specialize in RV sales and RV trading between people all over the country.  When posting online, always include the most recent pictures of the vehicle.  Your advertisement should also mention any modifications you’ve made over the years.  Describe the condition accurately, and state whether the price is negotiable or fixed.
