The Difference Between Car Polish and Wax
Car polish and car wax are sometimes thought to be the same thing. However, polish and wax are two different products which work in different ways to improve the appearance of a car. Knowing the facts about each product will help you use the products properly.
Car Polish
Polish is used to when the color of the car begins to look dull. The polish will improve the shine of the car. It is also used to remove small scratches and minor paint damage. Car polish contains products used to clean paint and some wax. However, it does not contain enough wax to have the protective effect of a wax product. Waxes in car polish are used for lubrication. Polish should only be applied to car after it has been thoroughly washed. Automobiles do not need to be polished every time they are washed. Once or twice a year is enough to keep car looking vibrant.
Car Wax
Car wax should be applied after the car has been polished. Wax is used on the car to provide a protective layer over the paint. It protects the car from dirt, UV rays or moisture that may damage the car. Wax products may be natural or synthetic and are made up of a mixture of wax and oil. Depending on the type of wax being used, it can last up to a year. However, not all waxes last a year. A car can be wax every week or every month. Cars do not have to be waxed this often. Waxing a car every three months can provide sufficient protection.
