Things People Miss When Planning a Wedding

You have spent a lifetime planning for a perfect wedding. You have set the date, arranged a location and planned the reception. You have a cake, a dress and even personalized napkins. There may be a few things missing from your plans. Here are the top things that people miss when planning a wedding.

Transportation - How will you and your new spouse get from the wedding location to the reception location? Many people forget to make these arrangements in advance. You can rent a limo or ask a relative or friend to drive. You should not worry about driving yourself; plan ahead for someone else to drive so you can focus on you and your new spouse.

Seating Arrangements - Plan ahead and let people know where they will be sitting at the wedding and/or the reception. You don’t have to assign every seat, but make sure your family and friends from both sides are comfortable and know where they are suppose to be during and after the wedding.

Passports - The honeymoon is the highlight of the wedding event. You may plan to go somewhere special. If it is outside the country, even to Canada or Mexico, you will need a passport. Many newly weds forget to apply for a passport and then end up on the in-laws couch instead of Cancun. It will take at least three months to get a passport, so plan ahead.

Postage - This needs to be planned in the budget. You will need to spend at least one stamp, sometimes two, depending on the weight of your invitation. If you are inviting several hundred people, this can be an expensive bill that many people overlook. You should also plan ahead for the postage on thank-you notes.

Guests - Although this date is about you and your new spouse, you should remember that many people are coming to see you and celebrate this day with you. Don’t design your wedding to make people happy, but do remember to respect your guests and ensure that they are enjoying the day with you. A good way to do this is to stick to a time schedule. Don’t keep your guests waiting before the wedding or reception.

Tips - Many vendors add a tip in the total overall price because tipping is not something many newlyweds consider. If the DJ, cake decorator, photographer, servers or any other hired helpers do not include a tip in the price, you will need to remember to tip them for their services.
