Tips for Auto Painting
Some people choose to paint their cars themselves instead of paying an auto body shop to do the work for them. Paying someone else to do it is definitely the easiest way to go, but not everyone can fit the cost into his or her budget. Painting your car is not an easy task, but it is one that can be done with some time and patience.
Tips for Auto Painting
- The temperature you are painting in should be at least 55 degrees. If the temperature is any colder it would hinder the ability of the paint to set quickly and it will drip and run.
- Paint inside of a garage or a paint booth. Heat lamps or heaters can easily control the temperature in both of these areas. Never have a flame going while you are painting because paint if flammable.
- Avoid painting the car when the humidity is high.
- Applying a clear coat to your car and then buffing it would create a glossier finish.
- If applying more than one application of clear coat you need to wait approximately 15 minutes between applications.
- Take your time to properly prepare the surface of the car before applying paint such as making sure any rough areas are sanded out with sandpaper.
