Tips for Buying Baby Onesies
Shopping for a new baby can be a blast. Onesies are a popular baby item and are easy to purchase. These can be bought brand new from a department store or lightly used from a garage sale. Knowing some simple tips can make buying onesies even easier.
- Purchasing lightly used onesies from a garage sale or secondhand shop can help save you money. If you are looking for newborn or infant sizes, there are usually plenty available. Most show little to no signs of wear and are in excellent condition.
- If you come across a good deal on onesies that are white or plain colored, buy them. A good deal is not worth passing up, because these aren't decorative or stylish. Onesies can be layered under other clothing in cooler weather or worn inside the house.
- Err on the side of caution and buy larger. Babies outgrow clothes so quickly that buying a larger size is usually a good idea. Look at the height and weight recommendations on the chart to help you decide on a size.
- Check the onesies for decorations like buttons, beads or stings that could loosen over time. These could potentially detach and pose a choking hazard. Iron on decals and embroidered designs are safer.
- Knowing that there are different types of onesies for different weather conditions is helpful. Onesies designed for the summer have short, capped sleeves and a made from thinner cotton. Onesies for winter weather have long sleeves and are usually a little thicker.
- Look for hypoallergenic fabrics that are soft. Organic cotton is very soft and holds up well after numerous washes. If the onesie contains a design or decal, feel that it is soft on the inside where it comes in contact with the skin.
