  • Get rid of clothing and shoes that you do not wear. If it has not been worn in a year, get rid of it.

  • Use shoeboxes to store accessories. Use labels so you will know what is on the inside of them.

  • Use the back of doors, interior walls and floor space. Use shoe racks on interior walls. Purchase metal hooks for the back of doors to hang items. Use bins for the extra floor space.

  • Remove all plastic dry-cleaner bags.

  • Sort your clothing by color. You can further sort them by the type of item such as shirts, jackets, blouses and pants.

  • Insert shelves to store folded tees on by color. Hangers can ruin them over time.

  • Place items that you use frequently at eye level. Other items should go on the top shelves.

  • Take out of season items out of your closet and store them in bins in the basement or under the bed.
