How to Save Money on Auto Motor Club Memberships

Tips for Comparing Auto Motor Club Memberships

Belonging to an auto club gives many drivers the peace of mind of knowing that should trouble arise while on the road, help is only a phone call away. However, there are many different auto clubs out there offering different services and membership levels. Before joining, do some comparison shopping to ensure that the motor club membership meets your specific needs.

  • Research the types of auto club services available in your area and the types of services they provide. Although it is probably the most well known, AAA is not the only auto club out there.

  • Check with companies that you already have a relationship with. Some car manufacturers now offer roadside assistance programs on new cars at no charge during the warranty period. It is possible that you may already have services that you are unaware of. In addition, contact your auto insurance company. Many offer services for a small monthly fee. Some cell phone companies offer roadside assistance programs as well. These options may not meet all of your needs, but they are a good place to start.

  • Take into consideration the services you want and the people you want covered. Make sure that the company you are considering provides membership levels compatible with the services desired and the ability to add additional family members if needed.

  • Compare the costs of the different plans offered.

  • Consider whether you would benefit from other services offered by the company. AAA offers many discounts and travel services to its members that other companies do not, but that is only a benefit if you will use them. It does not make sense to pay more for a motor club membership if you will not utilize all of the offered services.
