Tips on Dog Training
If you are a dog owner, you know that training is very important so that it will obey and respect you as well as other animals and humans. Aside from training your dog with the basics, such as sit, stay and lay, you can also train it to perform interesting and helpful tricks.
- Communicate with your dog and build a decent relationship. Trust plays a major role when it comes to the relationship of a dog and its owner. You and your dog will need to trust one another.
- Use a reward system when training your dog. Reward your dog with a treat or a chew toy when it does something good.
- Start with basic steps first, teaching your dog crate training and simple commands.
- Begin teaching your dog more advanced commands and tricks once it has mastered the simple commands.
- Maintain a serious (not scary) tone when giving your dog commands.
- Give your dog the interaction that it deserves. Dogs that receive plenty of love and interaction are more likely to follow commands and listen to their owner.
- Set daily goals for your dog. Always have patience and never abuse it for not doing something right. Animal abuse is illegal and it will ruin any trust that your dog has for you.
- Continue to be consistent when training your dog. If you are not consistent, it will take your dog much longer to pick up on things.
- Have confidence in yourself when training your dog. Your dog will be able to sense if you are not confident in your ability to train.
- Give your dog praise when it does something right. Your dog will feel more inclined to continue to do good things.
- Do not dwell on negativity. If your dog does something wrong, reinforce the word "No" and redirect the dog onto something else.
