Tips on Flower Designs

Doing flower designs in any type of art form such as drawing and painting needs a bit of improvement as time goes on. Flowers can start off difficult to draw and become a cinch once practice takes place. Designing flowers takes patience and your own type of method to complete.

Focus on the Petals

This is key when it comes to any type of design; focus on the focal point. Sine the petals are the main attraction, try to make them as beautiful and as detailed as possible. If you are drawing a daffodil or any other flower with large petals, try to create the creases in the sides of them for a 3D effect. Delicate petals on baby’s breath can be drawn lightly and well shaded to bring out the picture. When painting flowers, use soft brush strokes for the petals to make them look fragile and eye catching.

Mix in Colors

Color will bring any form of art alive and it looks much eye popping compared to a black and white sketch, especially if its going to be a floral theme. Special art markers can work wonders when bringing attention to color. You can even mix different types of colors together to make your own perfect flower. When using paints it gets a bit more fun since you can lightly dab and stroke the colors in the perfect whirlwind of tints. Do not worry if the paint seeps down and bleeds, this will actually make the painting more unique, it won’t look like an accident since anything is possible in art.
