Tools for Carpet Cleaning

A clean carpet makes the whole room look better. Keeping a carpet looking its best requires having the right tools for carpet cleaning. The correct tools will make the task easier and will help to keep your carpet looking good for a longer period of time. This can save you money since the carpet will not have to be replaced as often.

  • A vacuum that works well and has good suction: You do not have to buy the most expensive vacuum on the market in order to have clean carpets; however, you do need one that works well. Check the suction before beginning to vacuum. Change the bag or empty the collection container often. Change or clean the filters as needed. Vacuuming should be done at least once per week.

  • Crevice tool attachment: Many vacuums come with this tool. The tool attaches to your vacuum and allows you to get into corners and under items such as low furniture or baseboard. It is important to clean these areas, as dust and dirt accumulate under these places.

  • Stain remover that is safe for carpets: It is good to have some on hand for unexpected spills. Before using the stain remover, blot the stain with clean paper towel or a clean cloth. Continue to blot until you cannot get any more of the stain up. You want to always blot and never rub. Once you are finished blotting, place a clean, dry cloth over the stain, place something heavy on top to hold it down and leave it for a few hours or overnight to life even more of the stain up. Finally follow the directions on the package to use the stain remover.

  • Carpet cleaner, steam cleaner or shampooer: Your carpet should be deep cleaned at least once per year. If you are not going to hire a professional to do this for you, you will want a shampooer. These are easy to use and will give your carpet a deep down cleaning.
