Top 5 Baby Items

Having a baby is stressful enough, without having to wonder what baby items are needed. There are many great items available to make a new mom's life easier. From car seats to cribs, these 5 items are must haves when bringing home a little one.

Car Seat- Purchasing a car seat is one of the most important investments you will ever make. When shopping for a car seat, you should buy one that is brand new and has never been used. Different models have different features, but all new car seats sold in stores meet current safety standards. Buying a used car seat is not recommended, because you do not know its history and if it has been involved in an accident. The car seat must be properly secured in your vehicle before leaving the hospital.

Crib- A crib is another wise investment, especially a convertible crib, which grows with your child. These can transition into toddler beds and eventually full size beds, which can save you a lot of money. There are many different crib models available and a fancy one is no better than a plain one. Cribs with a drop-side mechanism have now been banned, so buying a used crib is not recommended, as this could be potentially dangerous.

Stroller- A stroller can be an excellent investment if you plan on going out or doing a lot of walking. Just getting out can make any new mom feel much better, plus it can help you to lose any remaining pregnancy weight. You will want a stroller that you feel comfortable pushing and can easily travel with.

High Chair- This handy item won't be needed until your baby is over six months and can sit unassisted. Purchasing a high chair your baby fits in well is important. Sometimes taking your baby with you can help you decide. High chairs make feeding time easy and fun. When shopping for high chairs consider purchasing one with a five point harness, like a car seat. These harnesses are much safer and more effective at holding small babies in.

Baby Bathtub- Playing with baby in the tub is great fun and having a separate bathtub made especially for baby's small size makes it easy. You don't have to struggle with bending over a full size tub and can place a baby bathtub where ever is convenient for you. When you have just had a newborn, this makes bathing them much easier. Babies outgrow bath tubs rather fast, but these are inexpensive.
