Types of Architecture Jobs
Architecture requires years of schooling but can be a lucrative and long term career. When considering pursuing architecture you may wonder what jobs will be available to you when you graduate. Architecture has many job opportunities that will provide a challenge for any architect.
Instructor
One of the jobs you can get as an architect is to teach it to people who are learning the skill. Architect jobs often come on contracts, so during down time between contracts many architects may decide to teach at a university.
Business Owner
Some architects may open their own business. They will hire architects to handle the day-to-day needs of their clients. Business owners will attract new clients to their business, develop ideas for clients and assist the clients in making sure their needs are met.
Designer
These are the architects who draw the designs. They will understand the space and layout of the building. They will bring a concept to life showing how a completed project may look. The designers may even work with clients to determine proper spacing and location.
Consultant
Some architects go on to create their own consulting business. Clients will come to them to ask questions about restoring old buildings, reinforcing an existing building or building new buildings. Consulting can be a lucrative field as many clients will seek a consultant's advice before they go on to hire an actual architect firm.
Intern
Every architect has to start somewhere. When you first enter the field, you may be an intern. Although you will be in the lowest rank, you will assist senior level architects with their job and learn about the field in which you will be working.
