Types of Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas that can kill. Carbon monoxide detectors are designed to measure the presence of carbon monoxide in the air. The detectors triggers an alarm based on how long the gas is present in the air. There are different types of carbon monoxide detectors available on the market.
Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Biomimetic: A gel cell darkens when there is carbon monoxide is detected. The gel cell lightens when there is no carbon monoxide. The colors can be seen directly or they can be connected to a light sensor and alarm.
Electrochemical: It produces a current when carbon monoxide is present. It is highly accurate, requires little power, and lasts for five years.
Semiconductor: This detector has thin wires on a ceramic base that is monitored by a circuit. The carbon monoxide reduces the resistance that allows a current to trigger the alarm.
