How to Improve Company Awards

Types of Company Awards Programs

Giving out company awards can sometimes seem boring or trite. In fact, some employees really do not care about awards when they are given. This is a shame and the blame for this indifference is on the employer who has not done a good enough job making the awards exciting and relevant.

Savings award- This type of award is not just beneficial for the one who wins, but also for the company. This award is given to someone who makes a suggestion that saves the company money over a calendar year without sacrificing quality or service. The company then awards the employee with a percentage of the years savings. The company wins because they end up saving money in the long term. The employees win because they now have an incentive to make suggestions that management may not consider.

Attendance award- This award is given for employees who do not miss a scheduled day of work over an extended period of time. Although you can make the time period a year, it is best to choose a period that is more easily attained, like six months. This encourages employees to come to work, even when they don’t feel like working. Of course, the award should be an adequate incentive to make an employee think twice before calling in.

Service award- This award is given to those who excel in giving outstanding customer service. The winner of this award should be given a prize for something where they will become the one who is served, like a dinner or massage.
