Types of Free Radio Stations Online

Free Internet radio stations come in a few different forms, which gives people many options. Most free Internet streaming will allow the user to listen songs, but won’t allow them to skip any songs they don't enjoy. A few others have a personal option, which lets the user choose their own music.

Free Streaming Radio

This is the standard radio service that streams over the Internet just like any other radio channel. There are no options to skip any music and the commercials will be played after every three or four songs. These free streaming radio sites are great for people who need to listen to something casual at work and don’t have the time to make their own play lists. Live365 is one of these free type stations that carries over thousands of different channels from across the nation and the world. Another streaming radio site is Digitally Imported, which plays electronic music of every genre such as dubstep, techno, trance, and ambient.

Free Personal Radio

In this era, free personal radio is everywhere and it allows the listener to choose their favorite songs and make play lists for themselves. One such site is Grooveshark, which is the most flexible and has almost every artist you can think of. Just type in their name on the search and you will see a set list of their music. You can even pick a certain album and stream the whole thing, while picking your favorites for your very own play list. Two other personal radio sites are Pandora and Last.fm. Both of these let the listener hear a set of music recommended to them after they type in their favorite genre or artists. These free sites let music lovers discover new music while maintaining flexibility and control for no obligation.
