Types of Rental Places for a Party

Hosting a party is a great way to celebrate accomplishments, anniversaries and birthdays.  It is also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new friends.  There are many details to consider when you are putting together a party.  Food, decorations and entertainment are major considerations.  The first step in party planning, however, is deciding where you will host your party.

There are many options to consider when you think about possible locations for your party.  If your own home is not large enough to accommodate your guests, you will need to look into a rental place for your party.  There are many types of party rentals available.  The place you choose will be determined by your guests, their needs and ages.

If you are hosting a party for children:

  • Consider indoor locations that provide a party space and entertainment.  Skating rinks, laser tag arenas and bounce house arenas are all excellent indoor options.  These come with built-in fun and entertainment.  You do not have to worry about weather conditions, which can be a blessing, especially if you are hosting your party during the winter.  Many also provide food, drinks and utensils, so booking a party in places such as these can be one-stop shopping.

  • Outdoor locations can be a great option.  Zoos, parks and miniature golf courses can be great places to rent for a children's party.  Each place provides its own form of entertainment, whether it be animals to visit, games to play, or equipment to climb on.  In most outdoor places, you will be required to bring your own food, drinks and utensils.  In some cases, you may need to rent tables, chairs and other equipment, so take that into consideration.

  • Consider conservative locations for more formal functions.  If you are hosting a bar mitzvah or sweet sixteen party, you might want to consider a fancy, upscale restaurant or renting a hotel conference room.

If you are hosting a party for adults:

  • Consider hosting a backyard barbeque.  This can be an inexpensive and fun option for a party.  Adult parties tend to be more laid back, so as long as you have good food, drinks and places for your guests to sit, you will be all set.  Since the party is at your own home, you will have plenty of time to set up and decorate before your guests arrive.  Consider playing music and lighting some candles to set the scene.

  • Rent a room at a restaurant.  Many restaurants offer party rental spaces.  Typically you pay a flat fee per guest when you book a party.  The fee often includes unlimited soft drinks and a meal.  In most cases, alcohol can be added to the party package, either in the form of drink tickets or an open bar.  Having your party in a restaurant can simplify your party planning, as you will not have to worry about seating or food.  Ask the restaurant manager if you can arrive early to decorate the space if you choose to do so.

  • If you are hosting a large party, consider renting a community space.  If you are hosting a shower or reception, community centers or country clubs can be a great rental option.  These types of venues have tables and chairs available for you to use.  Some also include linens, such as table cloths and napkins, in their rental price.  Many offer the use of sound equipment, should you choose to provide music at your party.  One of the biggest perks of renting a community space is that they often have their own kitchen.  This will allow you the option of providing and cooking your own food, or hiring a caterer for your party.
