Types of Tables You Can Rent for Parties

When planning a party one of the most important things to consider is whether or not you have enough tables to comfortably seat your guests and/or to put out your refreshments. If you find yourself needing more tables, there are various types of tables available to rent at party rental stores.

There are many factors you should consider when selecting the appropriate tables for your party: the number of guests attending, size of the area where the party will be held, the theme or occasion, as well as your overall budget. All of these points should be weighed when selecting the perfect tables for your event.

The selection of tables at your local party rental store will vary, but in general the two most common types of tables to rent are Round and Rectangular.

Round Table

Round tables generally range from 36" round (seats 4) to 72" round (seats 10). Many party throwers like to use round tables because the circular configuration is more intimate. Sitting at a round table allows for everyone to face one another at the same time. Conversation can be carried out easily and food can be passed more readily creating a warm and casual environment.

Rectangular Table (also referred to as a Banquet Table)

Rectangular tables will vary in length and width. Two of the more common sizes are 6'x30" (seats 6-8) and 8'x30" (seats 8-10). Rectangular tables are ideal when you are trying to create a more formal dining experience. Due to their size and structure, they can often dominate a room so the table often will be the focal point to the room. If you will be serving snacks and appetizers before dinner, setting up a rectangular table aside from where you will be having dinner can be useful for putting out these treats for your guests to grab as they mingle throughout the party.

Pedestal and Serpentine are two other types of tables often available for rent.

Pedestal Table (also referred to as a Cocktail Table)

Pedestal tables will generally be either 30" or 42" in height. The diameter will range from 24" (seats 2, stands 3), 30" (seats 3, stands 4) or 36" (seats 4, stands 6). These tables are ideal for more informal settings where guests will be meandering throughout the party, but may need a place to sit or stand while they enjoy their refreshments.

Serpentine Table

Serpentine tables will vary in size. If used as a table for sitting, they offer a more unique type of seating arrangement as the table has a curve to it. In a party setting their more practical use would be for putting out food so guests can come by to make a plate before going back to socialize with fellow guests.
