Types of Women's Footwear
As time has evolved so has the variety of women’s footwear. From casual to formal, there are a number of women’s footwear styles that can work for any occasion. Many women can identify their favorite kinds of shoes and often keep them as a staple in their wardrobe.
Pump
The pump is type of women’s heel that goes around the foot without any kind of straps to hold it on. Pumps can come in many fabrics ranging from leather to suede.
Wedge
A wedge is a medium to high-heeled shoe that has a full sole. Wedges can come in a canvas or leather material and are often worn in the warmer months. These shoes are good for women that want to wear heels and want their feet to have strong support.
Flat
Flats are styles after ballerina shoes. Flats can be worn casually or dressy and come in many colors and fabrics. One staple in many women’s closets is a pair of classic black flats.
Tall Boots
Tall boots are a great winter shoe. They can be worn over a pair of jeans or leggings or with dresses and skirts. Many tall boots come with a heel so that they can be worn out during the winter and still keep the wearer warm.
Mules
Mules are shoes that are covered in the front and have an open back. They are easy to slip on and go. Mules come in many heel heights and fabrics.
Peep toes
Like pumps, peep toes are a heeled shoe that goes around the outside of the foot. The front of the shoes has an opening that shows the first two toes but not all the toes on the foot.
Sandals
Sandals are a shoe that has one or many straps and leaves the top of the foot open. Sandals are worn during the warmer months and come in a variety of heel heights.
Platforms
Platforms are shoes that have 1/2-1 inch or height from the toes to the ball of the foot. The front can combine with a wedge, stiletto or high-heeled back.
