The costs for a bathroom remodeling job will vary depending on many factors, such as how much work you want done, whether you would like to use budget or upscale materials and even where you live. Bathroom remodeling costs are more expensive in certain parts of the country, while a bathroom remodel in southern states will cost the least.


  • Remodeling your bathroom with upscale products and materials will cost about $25,000 or a little more.

  • Approximately $17,000 would be enough for bathroom remodel using basic materials and products. This would cover a toilet, tub with shower, tile around shower, tile floor, paint, sink with counter, mirror and lights.

  • Labor will be about one-third of your total costs. Any jobs that you can do yourself, will save you some money on labor.

  • It is a good idea to save ten-percent of your budget for unexpected expenses and problems that arise as work is being done. This is especially true for a bathroom where plumbing issues often come up.

  • A bathroom that you are doing yourself could cost as little as $5,000. This would include a tub with shower, paint, floor tile, toilet, sink, fixtures and new drywall if needed.

  • The cost for decorating extras such as towel bars, toilet paper holder, waste baskets, toothbrush holder, towels and accessories will usually add another $400 to $500 dollars to the final price.
