What Amusement Park Has the Most Wooden Coasters?

Wooden roller coasters were the first invented and were most popular in the 1920s. What makes wooden coasters different from steel is the wooden tracks. Steel coasters have steel tracks and provide a faster and smoother ride than "woodies.” Many amusement parks offer a few wooden coasters, but Mt. Olympus in Wisconsin offers four wooden coasters for those who still enjoy a bumpy ride.

Hades

Voted as one of the best new rides in 2005, Hades can reach speeds of 70mph and has the world's longest underground tunnel. This wooden coaster is 4,725 feet in length and reaches a height of 160 feet. Riders must be 48 inches or taller to ride Hades.

Zeus

This coaster is full of twists and turns. This coaster can reach a speed of 60mph. Zeus is 2,700 feet in length and contains an 85-foot drop. This coaster also races through the forest and is only for riders who are 48 inches or taller.

Cyclops

Cyclops is not as fast or high as it competitors, but riders will still enjoy the 75-foot drop and a height of 70 feet. This track is 1,680 feet long and intermingles with the other structures. Riders must be 48 inches or taller to ride the Cyclops.

Pegasus

More for those riders who are not big on the quick speed or thrilling drops of the coasters like Hades or Zeus. Pegasus will only reach a speed of 40 mph and a height of 60 feet. The track is the shortest of all at 1,600 feet. This ride allows riders to be 40 inches or taller.

Wooden roller coasters may have become outdated, but Mt. Olympus is making them a thing of the present by offering four different "woodies" each with unique features to meet the thrill level of many different individuals. If bumpy rides still put you on edge, then Mt. Olympus has the perfect wooden coaster to increase your adrenaline rush.
