What Are Some Inexpensive Electronics to Give as Christmas Gifts

For those families who observe and celebrate Christmas, giving gifts is an old and highly popular tradition. However, for those who are on a tight budget or who are have a lot of relatives and friends to buy gifts for, inexpensive gift ideas can be very helpful. It's especially easy to find cheap consumer electronics that will make great Christmas gifts.

  • USB Memory Sticks - For people who are constantly mobile and who need to transport their spreadsheets, pictures and other documents to different computers, memory sticks make an excellent gift. Also known as "thumb drives", these devices can hold millions of documents apiece, with cheap drives offering 2, 4 or even 8 gigabytes (GB) of memory for under $20.

  • Music Players - Also known as MP3 players, these modern successors to the old portable cassette players (like the Sony Walkman) store music digitally instead of on audio tapes. MP3 players with storage capacities of up to 8 GB can be found for under $50, each with the capacity to carry dozens of CDs worth of songs. Anyone who travels and likes to listen to music will love an MP3 player.

  • Digital Cameras - Some tourists prefer using a high powered digital camera to take photos while traveling around the country or abroad. But sometimes a simple and cheap megapixel camera will also do the trick. There are a variety of cameras that cost less than $100 but which capture full motion video at 30 frames per second with still image picture resolutions reaching 15 megapixels and a USB interface to transfer data to a laptop or computer.

  • Bluetooth Headsets - Because of the need to take one's hand off the steering wheel to use a cell phone, driving while talking on the cell phone is both dangerous and often illegal. Hands-free headsets mitigate the risk by allowing the driver to take calls without touching the phone. Bluetooth headsets are a necessity for people who communicate on the go, and can be had for under $50.
