What Do Pest Control Companies Use?
Pest control companies use a variety of chemicals aimed to kill insects, mites, nematodes, and other various rodents. These are all collectively known as pests because they are unwanted in areas of the home and must be eradicated to maintain equilibrium.
Types of Chemical Pesticides
Chemical pesticides do a good job of removing pests and can handle any size area. The problem with chemical pesticides is that they sometimes linger in the environment and repel many things besides pests. Pest-control companies use two different types of chemical pesticides:
- Broad-spectrum - The most potent pesticide which can kill a large variety of species.
- Narrow spectrum pesticides - Pest control companies use this type of pesticide when they only want to kill one type of species.
Using Pesticides Safely
When pest-control companies are deciding on which pesticide to use, they have to balance the destructive aspects of the chemicals against unintended side effects. The pesticides are poisons and therefore also harmful to friendly plants, animals and other life forms like insects.
In using pest control products, pest control companies must be cognizant of how these products can harm other organisms besides just pests. There are issues such as environmental pollution which is a byproduct of these pest-control chemicals.
Part of using these chemicals is preventing unintended harm to other organisms and plants. To minimize the amount of damage to bystanders, pest control companies must properly handle and dispose of any left over pest-control chemicals after use.
