What Does Fitness Mean?
The 250-pound bodybuilder with bulging muscles and the super quick marathon runner aren't the only people that need fitness in their lives. Every person can benefit from good fitness. What it means to be fit to one person is different from another, but there are some sure fire ways that everyone can have the ideal fitness for themselves and their family.
Fitness is the state or condition of being in good health or good physical condition. It is the body's way of functioning efficiently. Ways to be fit include making sure you have good nutrition, exercising and getting enough rest.
Most people think of exercising when they think of fitness. Ways to exercise are weight lifting, sports like swimming or soccer, dancing, classes like Pilates, yoga, or spinning, and cardio like running on a treadmill or using an elliptical. Nutrition is a highly important key in fitness as well. Eating balanced meals, not skipping breakfast, and eating healthy foods can increase your good fitness. Also, getting enough rest for your age and activity level will have your body feeling at its best. Before undertaking any exercise, nutrition program, or determining the amount of sleep you need, consult your doctor for your specific needs. You can also talk with a personal trainer to help you with your fitness goals.
Just as there are things that improve fitness, there are things that negatively affect your fitness. Smoking, doing drugs, drinking alcohol and not having good hygiene are a few of the main down falls to bad fitness. Other factors like lack of sleep, too much stress, and a poor diet will have your body in less than ideal condition, too. Make sure to take good care of your body and stay away from negative factors in order to have good fitness.
