What Is the Architectural Review?

The architectural review is an important step in the building process of homes and buildings. The architectural review can place certain restrictions and laws on the construction and development of homes across the United States. The laws that are implemented may vary by state, but are very important in keeping rules and regulations in place.

Development

The Architectural Review board is typically designated in every city or town to help control the process of building, construction and renovation. The review board helps to implement certain laws to maintain the architectural peace, so to speak. If an individual or company wants to change something within the city’s limit they are usually directed towards the Architectural Review board. Sometimes the structure may have historical features that need protection, and the board helps preserve those qualities.

Homeowners

The Architectural Review board is put in place to protect certain city buildings, but it is also put into place to protect homeowner associations. Certain neighborhoods have implemented rules that they would like their community to follow. For example: a certain neighborhood may require that every home has a metal roof. The homeowners association can pair up with the Architectural Review board to have these requirements implemented, before the construction can start.

Details

On top of working with the city and specific neighborhoods the ARB can also help control certain regulations. They can help control building sizes and zoning regulations in certain towns and cities. THE ARB can restrict and enforce the color of houses and the height of fences.  The ARB is usually a part of a larger organization that helps enforce these rules and regulations.
