The best looking spray tanning systems are the ones that use an airbrush. The one drawback with airbrush spray tanning systems is that you need to have someone manually apply the airbrush to you. Since this requires another person, it is usually best done at a tanning salon. In addition to having the proper equipment, a tanning salon will have a specific place set up as an airbrush tanning station. If you were to attempt to set up something similar at home, you would need to dedicate a room (possibly a warm garage) or construct a tent in your yard in order to contain most of the spray.  No matter how careful you are when spraying with the airbrush, there will always be an amount of overspray that does not get contained. Since this is more than most people want to spend, they generally will avoid all that hassle and just go to a salon instead.

Any home spray tanning system that you settle upon will need to be chosen to prevent as much overspray as possible. You will still need to set aside an area specifically to do the spraying, but a kit that has the least amount of overspray will mean the easiest cleanup possible.
