What Scientific Tools are Used in Biology?

Life processes demand scientific study that answers to causes and effects, and particularly so as humans age. However, health afflictions are not reserved for the elderly only, since illnesses affect all age groups. Genetics often determine disease transfer. Scientific tools are used in biology to test and interpret health care illnesses, and the diagnostic tools present information that lead to treatment modalities that save lives.

Compound Microscope

This instrument is the most frequently and widely used microscope in the field of biology, because it provides magnification measured up to 1000 times and magnifies what cannot be seen with the naked eye. A compound microscope possesses two sets of lenses, ocular and objective, which magnifies the targeted object in two steps.

Objective Lens

Light passes through the object, and the objective lens enlarges the object image at a primary image angle. Bacteria, human and animal cells and algae are viewed through the objective lens

Ocular Lens

The ocular lens is the microscope eyepiece that health care professionals, scientists, students and average people look into for viewing purposes. It is a magnifier and produces an enlarged image of the objective lens’ image.

Electron Microscope

The electron microscope produces much higher fields of magnification than the compound microscope and uses an electron beam channeled through a cathode, instead of light, to target an object. Whereas electron microscopes use lenses for magnification, the electron microscope uses coils.

Electron Microscopic Process

  • Electron beams quicken toward the targeted specimen.

  • Beam focuses on sample using metal openings and magnetic lens.

  • Interactions take place within the rayed specimen.

  • Fundamental interactions and effects are metamorphosed into an image.
