If you have found yourself in financial straits and are interested in selling your car there are some things that you need to do and have in order to sell your car as quickly as you possibly can.

Items needed to sell a car

Car

• Good working condition


• Clean inside and out


• Remove all personal items from the car


• Always have gas in the car when you are going to meet someone for a test drive


• Has all of the tags it needs to be legally driven

Paperwork

• Maintenance documentation should be available to show potential buyers so that they can be certain that the car has been well maintained.


• Make sure to have a vehicle history report to show the potential buyers so that they will not have to worry that the car has been in an accident


• Have the title to the car and that it is in your name

Advertising the Sale of a Car

Craigslist

• Post an ad in the vehicle section of craigslist


• List the make, model, and year of the car


• Be honest of the condition of the vehicle


• List the asking price


• Post only your phone number or your email address. 

Friends and Family

• Inform your peers that you are selling your vehicle.


• Ask them if they are interested in buying it or if they know someone who may be interested in it.


• Print off small flyers from a computer to give to them so that they can give it to anyone who may be interested.

Newspapers

• Post an ad in the classifieds section


• Make sure to provide all pertinent information about the car including the make, model, condition and year of the car


• Make sure to state if the car has been properly maintained


• List the asking price for the vehicle


• State if the price is negotiable or non-negotiable
