What are Radiator Hoses?

A radiator hose is very important to an automobile. Without a radiator hose your car would overheat. A bad radiator hose can leave you and your car stranded beside the road. Radiator hoses are needed to supply coolant from the engine to the radiator.

Radiator hoses are designed to carry coolant to and from the heater core. This is a small radiator housed location under the dash of the automobile. They are called heater hoses which are usually less than an inch in diameter.

There are two types of radiator hoses, flex and molded. Flex radiator hoses are usually the last resort used hoses in an automobile. Flex hoses can be very stiff and cause leaks around a radiator. Radiator hoses may become hard or soft and this can compromise the effectiveness of the area. It is important to replace hoses that have bulges or hoses that appear worn out.
