What are the Best Carpentry Trade Schools?

If you are looking for a trade to get in that would be both fulfilling and economically profitable, carpentry is a great place to begin. Our society has been growing for hundreds of years and carpenters have been right there in the thick of it all. There are many ways to begin and a good trade school is just one of them.

  • Try to get in touch with the local carpenters union if there is one near you. They can provide information on what is happening where you live. If there is no local union you should contact a local carpenter to see what it would take to get a job with them. Either of these should get you pointed in the right direction.

  • Contact your local community colleges and trade schools. They usually will be able to provide all the information on schooling in the area for construction trades.

  • Learn where local apprenticeship programs are. They will be invaluable in obtaining all the information you will need to get both the training and a foothold into the trade of carpentry. If you can get into an apprenticeship you can also make money while you are getting hands on exposure to the trade.

  • Go online and look for ways to learn carpentry. You will find out which colleges have classes in carpentry and there are also schools online where you can take carpentry classes. Many of these classes will get you off and running and help you to secure that first job as well.

  • Contact the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and they can provide all the information about advanced training you will need. You can find them online at carpenters.org.
