What is Bodybuilding?

Bodybuilding is a sport that involves an extreme amount of mental and physical strength to modify the body into a lean, muscular, well-defined work of art. Both males and females can become bodybuilders and pursue the discipline as real profession.

What is Bodybuilding?

Bodybuilding is the process of using a combination of dieting habits and specific types of exercises to lose fat and build muscle mass. Unlike other high-energy athletic sports, bodybuilding focuses more on overall physique and aesthetics. Though some pursue bodybuilding as a recreation or for personal enhancement, the sport of bodybuilding has been around since the early 1900s, when the first bodybuilding competition was held in New York City. Bodybuilding has gained such popularity throughout the decades that many are now campaigning to have it adopted as an official Olympic sport.

How to Become a Bodybuilder

To achieve desired results, bodybuilders must train extensively, especially if they wish to compete professionally. As a competition approaches, bodybuilders often alter their daily lives to get the most out of their bodies. Adhering to a specific diet that is high in protein and low in fat, perfecting posing routines, and even tanning frequently will help to increase a competitor’s chance of winning. During these competitions, bodybuilders present themselves before a panel of judges who will give points based on the participant’s muscular size and definition, balance, and symmetry. Bodybuilders are also assessed on how well they present their bodies through poise, gracefulness, and posing routines, which can take years to perfect.
